The Association of British Insurers say that out of 6.9m claims made 525k (or 1 in 13) of them were refused. This is broken down as follows:


Home Insurance – out of 1.8m claims 21% or 378k had their claim refused

Motor Insurance – out of 4.3m claims 1% or 43k had their claim refused

Travel Insurance – out of 800k claims 13% or 104k had their claim refused
